Why we built Fieldbound.
Fieldbound started at our own kitchen table, with two years of letters we did not want to lose.
We are a husband and wife who watched a mission go by one p-day email at a time. Every week another letter arrived and another batch of photos landed in a shared album. We told ourselves we would gather it all into something lasting. Months passed. The pile only grew.
When we finally sat down to do it, the work was harder than it had any right to be. We tried using one of the existing offerings, but the book editor was inflexible and it was hard to match up the images to the emails. We grew frustrated. We kept thinking: someone should build the thing that does the part you dread, and leaves you with the part you love.
So we did. Fieldbound is the keepsake we wanted for our own family — every word kept, every photo matched to the week it was taken, and a map of everywhere our missionary served and all of the companions he served with. We built it the way we wanted it built for our own missionary, and that is the only standard we hold it to.
